While at times it can be a tourist attraction, at other times it can be a mystery they are trying to figure out on their own. In videos going viral on the internet from Gujarat’s Morbi district, people are gathering around a well to look at its water.According to reports by media outlets, an 18-foot-deep well located on the farmland of Pranjivan Sadariya in Virparda village of the district has been shaking with its water oscillating continuously since August 2, 2026. Clips from the site show water level in the well rising to one side and then to another, even spilling out at times, all on its own as shocked residents watch on standby.

According to the owner Pranjivan Sadariya, the unusual activity began on August 2, just three months after the well was built. “When I arrived at my farm on Sunday, water from the well was spilling over the edge, and the same thing has continued ever since,” he said.Local residents said the water surface was visibly disturbed on Sunday and Monday. The movement briefly stopped on Tuesday before returning on Wednesday and Thursday, adding to the rising mystery around the well. Visitors watched the phenomenon with amazement, recording videos on their mobile phones. While some described it as a miracle, others believed there could be a scientific explanation behind the unusual movement of the water.
Earthquake on the way?
As clips and word of the incident spread, numerous residents initially suspected the strange movement might be linked to seismic activity. However, district authorities have ruled out any connection with earthquakes, saying the phenomenon appears to be caused by a natural geological process.District geologist J S Vadher said preliminary observations do not indicate any earthquake-related activity. “This is not seismic activity. Prima facie, it appears that following heavy upstream rainfall, groundwater is recharging and air trapped in the pore spaces of rocks is being released, causing the disturbance in the well,” he explained.Officials also consulted the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) in Gandhinagar, which reportedly confirmed that there is no active fault line beneath the area.
