There are four species found in Karnataka known as India’s “Big Four”: the Indian cobra, common krait, Russell’s viper, and saw-scaled viper. These snakes are venomous and have historically been associated with the majority of serious snakebite cases across India. It is therefore important for travellers to know about these before venturing into wilderness.
