One such incident has caught the attention of social media users after a woman planning a weekend trip to Baguio in the Philippines mistakenly contacted a women’s jail while looking for accommodation. Instead of embarrassment or criticism, the mix-up ended with a courteous response, an apology, and a conversation that people across social media have been enjoying.
How the mix-up happened
While searching for accommodation, the traveller came across the official social media page of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory. Thinking it was a hotel or a rental property, she sent a message asking if any rooms were available for the weekend.The response immediately clarified the situation.“Ma’am, this is a jail for women.”The woman quickly realized she had contacted the wrong page and apologized for the mistake.
Jail later shared the conversation
With the woman’s permission, the BJMP later uploaded screenshots of the chat on its official Facebook page. Along with the screenshots, the bureau shared a lighthearted reminder that the facility is a correctional institution and not a place where travellers can book accommodation.

The post also said that although it is not a hotel, the authorities remain committed to maintaining safe, secure, and sanitary facilities for the people in their custody, in line with the bureau’s mandate.
